The History of the Rugby World Cup

Contested between the world's top rugby union international teams, the Rugby World Cup is held every four years. The winners are awarded the Webb Ellis Trophy, named after William Webb Ellis, the Rugby School pupil who, according to popular legend, invented rugby by picking up the ball during a football game.
